How to clean the inside of a windshield

Do you ever wonder how the inside of your car's windshield gets so dirty? And also... the best way to clean it!?! My wife and I seem to ask this question quite frequently as we're squinting through streaks and smears.

Neither of us smoke (anymore), yet it seems the windshield always has a cloudy film on it. Try wiping it with a McDonald's napkin, not to mention driving at night, and it's like looking through a kaleidoscope.

I finally decided to consult the experts (Google), and happened onto this article and video. Guess what? It really works!

Apparently the inside of the windshield gets dirty largely from what are known as 'off gases.' The materials from the dashboard, seats, etc. release this gas that evaporates onto the windshield, not to mention cleaning products used on the interior, and even coughs and sneezes from you-know-who. So in addition to needing cleaned, it also needs de-greased.

This is the proper procedure to get your windshield looking like it's... not there:
  1. Pre-wipe with a clean microfiber cloth.
  2. De-grease with a wet magic eraser (be sure not to drip on the dash).
  3. Then clean and shine with auto glass cleaner.

I honestly couldn't believe how much of a difference it made. I highly recommend watching the video (or at least reading the article) to learn the correct method. It actually makes a difference if you're facing forward or backward! They are both quite short and worth every minute.

So, there ya go, my friends. You really can see clearly now!!

"In the same way, we can see and understand only a little about God now, as if we were peering at his reflection in a poor mirror; but someday we are going to see him in his completeness, face-to-face. Now all that I know is hazy and blurred, but then I will see everything clearly, just as clearly as God sees into my heart right now."
(1 Corinthians 13:12)
