I voted yesterday. In person. There was an early voting site just a couple miles from our house (public safety academy), so I stopped in the middle of the afternoon (2 pm) and was in and out in 20 minutes.
I've voted early at least once before, and plan to do so again. It seems to be quicker, easier, and at least this year, more reliable than a mail-in ballot.
As I approached the table to present my ID and check in I was considering whether to cast a party line ticket. I don't believe I've ever done that before, as I've never really considered myself solely aligned with any particular party. I have voted for Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Libertarians and even Green Party candidates. I don't buy this whole business of "it's the policies, not the person." I mean, who sets the policies? And there's more to it, but personally I value voting for people. Anymore, though, it's tough to accept what the Republican party is trying to do. That's why I briefly considered voting strictly Democrat. But I didn't.
I voted for our current Republican governor. I don't really have any complaints about him. To my knowledge he hasn't tried to pull any of the shenanigans the previous governor (and current VP of the US) did. Everyone else I voted for - which included most everything except those Republicans running unopposed and the judges - happened to be a Democrat.
Yes, I voted for Joe Biden. Without hesitation. There is no way in hell I could ever or would ever vote for the other guy. I believe Biden to be much more of a moderate than any other candidate that ran. And it may surprise you to note that, while I can entertain some fairly progressive notions, I actually prefer a moderate president. The complete and utter irony to me is how conservatives can view trump as a conservative. He is so far right that he's almost left (well, not really, but you know what I mean).
I could go on quite the rant about the whole thing, but it's just depressing. People have been pitched such a line about socialism that they apparently can't see fascism right in front of their face. Not to mention the fact that no one is running as a Socialist. The straw man casts a pretty big shadow though... and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it works.
I honestly don't know what I will do if trump wins, or doesn't concede the election. I think these next few months will be some of the rockiest this country has seen in any of our lifetimes. I hope I am wrong.
Anyway... I voted yesterday. Politics has become such a polarizing subject anymore. I really try not to post on Facebook, but it's hard. It's hard because I care. I care about this country, our way of life, my family, the future of the world... And while I know it annoys people like my mom and my sister and other friends when I post stuff, it kind of annoys me that they either don't agree with me or, what's worse, don't care. I don't know which it is, but it is depressing. Really depressing.
I wish I could say it will all be over in a few days. I have a feeling it's going to get worse before it gets better though. And it may take awhile for that to happen.
Peace out; and in.

This was the first year I almost voted a straight ticket as well. I think we probably did the same thing. I do not like voting for something I know nothing about - not that I really know that much either way. If nothing else, we canceled out at least two votes, so there's that.
