Oil change in the escape

I finally got around to getting the oil changed in our 2011 Ford Escape XLT. I'd been driving around for 2 1/2 weeks with the notification on the dash saying it was past due. I looked it up on the blog and it was almost a YEAR AGO EXACTLY that I last had it changed. Probably not good.

It seems so difficult anymore... The place we always used to take our cars is hard to get into (for me). Apparently they will only do oil changes in the mornings, and I only have one more per week off work. I did call a couple times and they were already filled up several days out. I also went to the Walmart by our house one day and it was going to be at least an hour and a half wait to get in. Geesh.

Yesterday afternoon I was determined to get it changed somewhere. I was going to stop at a Jiffy Lube on Jefferson that had pretty good reviews (even though I don't really like those quick lube places, or Walmart for that matter). I drove by Jiffy Lube and when I went to turn around there was another little place called Quick Pro Car Care. I noticed two guys standing outside, and there were NO CARS in either of their bays. So I quick pulled in.

Greg and Sean were nice enough. I pulled right inside and they told me I could just stay in the car. One went down below and drained the oil while the other gave me the specifics up top. It wasn't as cheap as some places ($38.99), but it sure was quick! They checked my air filter and something had eaten about half of it, so I had to fork over another $24.99 for the filter. I was out of there in right about 10 minutes though!

I would maybe go back there... if I was in a hurry. Like I said, they were nice enough, and it was fast. However, the bill says they checked my tires, radiator, transmission, filled the washer fluid, and washed the windows... which they DID NOT DO. At least not that I noticed, and I was literally sitting right there. They did introduce themselves and give me some history on the business, as well as say how long all the employees had worked there (2, 8, and 12 years - I think). It was a nice touch.

Anyway, I am just glad I finally got the oil changed. This car will go over 100,000 miles before the next change is due, so I may try to get back into our old mechanic for that. I'd recommend these guys if you just need some basic work quickly though.
