We got a new box bed

It was on somewhat of a whim we decided to purchase a new bed. We looked at a few online, and opted for a Zinus "box" bed. It literally came in a box! Crazy.

We went with this Zinus 12 Inch Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress and Zinus Korey 14" Steel Platform Bed Frame with Upholstered Headboard. I was a little skeptical because it was so much cheaper than the competition, but I finally figured if it ends up not being any good we can put it in the guest room. ;) It's also the same mattress the boy bought, and they like theirs.

Ironically it was in December 14 years ago that we bought our last bed. That one is now in the guest room. The grandkid's beds are in the basement.

The mattress arrived via UPS and was a little heavier than I expected. I have no idea how they roll them up like this. I know it ain't never going back into that box! After letting it set for a couple days it finally did smooth out, and so far seems to be pretty darn comfortable to sleep on.

The frame arrived the next day and is pretty heavy duty and seems of good quality. It was fairly easy to put together, and I appreciated the little ratchet tool they included (in the top picture). That made assembly so smooth.

Speaking of the pic at the top, and Zinus in general, it seems like a pretty cool company. Included with the ratchet and instructions was a set of greeting cards. They are blank inside, and are obviously intended to be used to write friends about your new purchase. I thought it a nice touch though - just the notion that you send a card to someone. I also liked the quirky little notes and wording on their site and in the instructions. It made it seem like they are actual people, rather than some stuffy company. And... if you decide you don't like the mattress, there's a money back guarantee. Instead of returning it, though, they ask that you either donate it or take it to a mattress disposal site yourself. They will send your money when you show them proof of which route you chose. Nice.

Anyway, here is the new mattress and frame in it's resting place. So far, I like it!

I'm glad you like it. I like it, too. :)
