Apparently team trump did well in several primary elections yesterday. His hold on this nation continues to boggle my mind.
I really don't like delving into politics, but it seems there is a huge difference between the republican 'supposed-christian' agenda, and true Christianity (or what I believe it to be based on Jesus and his teaching). I just can't gut the whole "God, guns, and o'l glory" ideology espoused by so many "church" people.
Anyway, I came across this quote in my devotional reading this morning. Ignatius of Lyon said it in the 2nd century:
"Christianity is not a matter of persuasive words. It is a matter of true greatness as long as it is hated by the world."As ironic as it seems, it's like what is being spouted by so many trumpers/republicans/patriots claiming to want America to be a "christian" nation... actually seems opposed to Jesus-Christianity! The thought of helping the poor, humbling ourselves before our enemies, beating swords into plowshares... is a hated concept in so many of our Red, White & Blue "churches."
So, for lack of anything else to say, I'm trying to hold onto this. Maybe we're on the right track after all. It just doesn't look like it from a worldly perspective.
