Trip to buda/easter

We made a quick trip to Buda this past weekend. We left home Friday around 3 in the afternoon, and arrived there before 8pm (I think). Traffic wasn't near as bad as I expected for Good Friday and going through the southern part of Chicagoland right during rush hour.

Friday night we helped my mom set up her new phone. It was a bit of a challenge coming up with passwords and email addresses, but Jane managed to finally get it done.

Saturday I helped my mom get all her patio/porch furniture out and arrange some things in the yard. Then I took a nice 9-mile jog through town and the surrounding countryside. Jane went over to her brother Keith's and did some cleaning and visited with him.

Saturday night we went to Red's for supper. I had 1/4 light fried chicken and a baked potato with two Busch Lights. I can't remember the last time I'd had something like that. It tasted pretty good.

We got up early Sunday and headed out around 8am so we could make it back to Fort Wayne for our 4pm church service. We were even joined at our new church (Canvas) by the Feipel five for their first time. It was a nice service and we are starting to really like it there.

After church everyone came to our house and we had mini ham sandwiches and potato salad for Easter supper. The grandkids hunted Easter eggs in the backyard.

It was a pretty nice trip/weekend/Easter holiday and the weather was better than most years.

One note I jotted down from the Easter sermon was this line from Frederick Buechner: "The worst thing is never the last thing." Indeed.
