Goin' to Indianapolis

Heading to Indy today... and again tomorrow... and probably Saturday too. Isaac is the drum major for Norwell's marching band and it's Bands of America grand nationals this weekend. Norwell won their class at state. Not sure how they'll do at nationals. He is one fine drum major though - even if I am a little biased. Can't believe he does it; and good. He played trombone his freshman year, baritone sophomore, tuba junior, and now drum major. Don't know where he gets it from.

So, Jane and I will head out about 1, they play at 4:30, then we'll hang around Indy for awhile.

Isaac was all hyped last night because he led the Fellowship of Christian Athlete's Bible Study (even though he's not an athlete) and he said it went "really good." He used material from teh Blue Like Jazz study guide from Donald Miller.

Carrie stopped in last night. Forgot to ask her how she likes driving my truck, since she wreched her car last Friday night. I can't believe the insurance people still haven't looked at it. they said they were busy with all the wind damage, but geesh, we turned in the report on Saturday, and this is Thursday.

Had a great small group last night. We're doing "Irresistible Evangelism" from the Cincinnatti Vineyard people, I think. I really, really like it. The best evangelism training stuff I have seen to date. Though I wish we had more people in it. About 12-15. Last night was on 'Active Wondering.' I really like the approach - active listening, then active wondering, then active sharing. I highly recommend it.

Well, gotta go to the hospital for a visit, then to office depot; but first I have to finish the bulletins. It's a beautiful day. Peace.

Hi Dan,
A quick question and a comment. 1) How would I get a copy of the Vineyard materials you're talking about? Sounds like something I might like to suggest to my small group. 2) I've really appreciated your participation over at the Emerging CGGC blog. I don't mean the fact that you participate, but the perspective and openess you bring to the table so-to-speak.... and happy belated birthday!

Hi Gil,
You can get the "Irresistible Evangelism Training Kit: Natural Ways to Open Others to Jesus" on the servant evangelism site: http://www.servantevangelism.com

It's a little pricey ($125 I think). There is a book with the same name, and I didn't like it so much, but the training kit and video is really good. Really opened my eyes to a lot of things.

And thanks for the note. Take care.
Dan
