We got hit with an ice storm last night and this morning. They said about a half an inch. It is still raining now. I took Jane to work around 7:30 this morning, and it took about a half hour to get there. About twice as long as usual. We were tooling up I-69 at a blistering 40 mph. The roads weren't as bad as I thought they might be though. I think there was enough ice that it slushed up somewhat, so it wasn't like a solid ice rink. Driving home along West Jefferson I had to use the left lane because of all the tree limbs that had broken off and were in the right lane.
I put some salt out in front of the bank, and I'll be darned if there wasn't thunder and lightning cracking through. Weird. I just hope the wind doesn't start blowing, or there are going to be massive power outages. There already are in many spots. So far, so good, here.
Here are some random pics I snapped in the back yard:

I can't believe that's the tree out front!! Haha. Silly ice...
The fence picture is very cool.
It's 34 here right now. They're not predicting any more snow or ice, just rain. Hopefully I'll see you tonight. It may take me a while to get there so I'm not sure how many presents I'll be wrapping.
Better you than me, friend.
Stay warm, stay electrified, stay safe.
I just realized that it's not the tree out front but the one to the side. Either way, still insane.
Jim,
I heard Missou had some of those weird thunderstorms too. Must have missed you, huh? I have an aunt that lives in Springfield, MO (next to Brad Pitt's parents).
We didn't get much of anything other than some rain. So far this year we've lucked out - and just by saying that we are now doomed.
Springfield, while farther south than us, often gets more snow because they're higher in elevation (the whole Ozarks thing). It is weird - we can often see weather marching NE up I-44 from Tulsa through Springfield on the way to St. Louis, and we can see it follow along I-70 and north of there, which is just 30 miles north of us, and a bunch of it often just misses here.
Often...but not always!
Stay safe. Stay electrified.
