You keep using that word

So there's this guy in Florida who is planning to have a 'Quran burning' on September 11. Apparently he thinks this is something Jesus would do to show his disapproval at what a small group of Muslims did when they flew airplanes into some US buildings like 9 years ago.

When I first heard about it I was like, "whatever," you know; "Who cares; it's just another idiot trying to get some attention." But then I read this article, and this one sentence in particular stuck out to me:
Jones, who runs the small, evangelical Christian church with an anti-Islam philosophy, says he has received more than 100 death threats and has started wearing a .40-caliber pistol strapped to his hip.

You know, there are so many things wrong with that sentence that I wouldn't even know where to begin. Actually, more than anything, it just makes me want to throw up. Certainly it makes me hesitant (and possibly ashamed) to be categorized as an 'evangelical Christian church pastor.'

Talk about depressing...

No more depressing than having a FB chat initiated by an aunt trying to tell me why Glenn Beck is such a great Christian...

I finally had to tell her that sometimes, the old saw about never mixing religion and politics, along with never doing business with family, are the missing 11th and 12th commandments.
