I got my Alcoholic Beverage Volunteer Employee Permit yesterday. I can now legally sell and serve drinks!
The volunteer permit means I can't actually be paid as a bartender, but can tend bar for non-profit organizations and at fundraiser-type events. The difference is $15 instead of $45 for a 3-year permit.
I went back and forth over which to get, but I really only need it to help out at the concerts where we serve as volunteers. Normally we are ticket-takers, but they're having a hard time finding people to serve the beer and wine we sell. I had two people ask me about it at the show Saturday night, so I figured "why not?"
Yesterday morning I sat through 90 minutes of one of the most boring online courses I've ever taken, paid my money to the state of Indiana... and I'm in! (Btw, here's the website: https://www.in.gov/atc/alcohol-resources/alcohol-beverage-applications-and-forms/?fbclid=IwAR1gI7RENF-qkpVNG2aZxZbkwZao-xIQtg1gMN_nXjjdSFyjxShH-NuLeeY) (I also found these nifty instructions from some church)
I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I do like taking tickets and welcoming people to concerts, but I'm sure I'll see a whole lotta folks while serving drinks too. Plus I can make tips!
We'll see...

I remember, at the WFF Jason saying about European music festivals, "They get really drunk, and not in a good way, like over here." *whew* I'm glad you're certified, Dan-o -- congratulations!
