I keep thinking of the piece from Reggie McNeal's book ,THE PRESENT FUTURE, where he says on p.26-27:
"The world does not want what the typical North American church has to offer. We can keep trying to get them to want what we have or we can start offering what they need. They need what people always need: God in their lives."
How do we do that? That is haunting me. I think our church is pretty nice, but... I have to admit, I don't think we are not doing very well at giving people what they need. I spend so much of my time doing paperwork, writing letters, reading, planning -- all for the people who are already in the church. It just seems like there is something missing. What am I not seeing?
I have also been overwhelmed today with angry Christians. Especially angry pastors. Man... I don't get it. It's a travesty is what it is.
This is a bummer post. Sorry. We all need God in our lives; but I wonder... do some of us who already have him, do we just not know what to do with him?
Peace, my friends. Peace. (I think I need to change the name of my blog again. I'm not feeling very revolutionary. Broken Whiskey Glass seems to be winning in my mind).
