Praise the Lord, Friday has rolled around yet again! And it's even a "good" Friday, or so they say...
- Covid Shot #2 - I just now returned from getting my second shot of the covid-19 vaccine. Once again I went to the Kroger grocery store just down the street from our house. I had the same pharmacist (who is a great shot-giver, btw!), and the same 'other guy' was there getting his as the first time. So far I'm feeling fine, but I anticipate my arm hurting again, and wouldn't be surprised if I have flu-like symptoms. I've been hydrating yesterday and today, and avoided alcohol all week just to be safe.
- Recent Funk - I debated whether to get this shot right now or not, because I've felt kind of 'off' for a couple weeks. I feel fine today, but the week before last I was really rundown, and I'd been having trouble running. I've had a burning in my chest, like I remember from when track practice used to start every year. It wasn't that I was having trouble breathing, but I just didn't feel good. I suppose it's possible I/we got covid after the first shot (which was my fear), but I'm hoping it was weather and allergy related. Anyway, I ran this morning - only 5 mph - and felt fine. So, who knows.
- Illini Saga - I know I promised a rundown of the Illini basketball season... It's still too soon. I'm not sure I've recovered from the disappointment of their second-round loss yet, and just last night I discovered Adam Miller - one of their starters from this year - has entered the transfer portal. Ugh. One of these days...
- Holey Week - Holy Week this year has been one of the hollowest yet for me. It came and has almost gone without registering much at all for me. This used to be my favorite week of the year. Now, I doubt that we will even go to church Easter Sunday. I wouldn't know where it would be if we did. I do plan to watch the Y's Good Friday service online this afternoon. The speaker this year is an acquaintance I've gotten to know a little because he sometimes works out at my location. Super nice guy. Otherwise, that's about all the more passion I've had this week. Good thing it doesn't depend on me!
- Writing Rest - When I changed the blog title from 'every day' to 'everyday' I didn't intend to stop writing so much. It just sort of happened. As I said earlier, I haven't felt the greatest. Honestly, though, I haven't been in the mood either. Work has been so exhausting lately - mentally, physically, and emotionally. It is such a pathetically poorly run organization with no leadership (or poor leadership) from the top down to the director over my branch (not my supervisor, but his). The amount of drama and sheer lack of respect for workers is taking a toll not only on me, but my wife and daughter as well. I guess there are really only two options: seek employment elsewhere, or pray for change. It could be this is our cross to bear, or a sign. Anyway, it's been a chore lately. Everything. I feel like all I do is go to work, try to exercise, eat and sleep. Oof.
So, there ya have it. The good, the bad, and the ugly. The rest of the day I'll be trying to stay hydrated, exercise my arm, and hope I don't get sick. Enjoy your holiday!

"Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!”” -Matthew 20: 17-19
