Changed mic batteries

I changed the batteries in the Shure lapel mic yesterday. They were last changed on January 6. They hadn't gone out yet, but I had a wedding yesterday and didn't want them to go out during the wedding. Plus I won't be back until August and this way they should last until then.

Changed mic batteries

I changed the batteries in the Shure lapel mic for today. They went dead at the end of the service last week. I always appreciate when it happens at the end instead of the beginning. Anyway, they were last changed on August 5.

Wireless microphones

I've been supposed to get a hand-held wireless mic for our church for some time now. I've partly been putting it off because I didn't want to have to put up with the grief I'm sure some people will cause because we're purchasing something, but partly just because I'm not overly sure what to get; plus just the time it takes to research and whatnot.

Anyway, I think I've narrowed it down to two mics. I decided we should probably stick with Shure since that is what our wireless lapel mic is, and it's a name I trust. So, I'm debating between these two:

We mostly just need it for people to use during our "sharing" time. Something we can pass around the congregation. But I figure if we're going to spend this much money, we might as well get something we can use to sing through as well. I am hoping these would work for both, but I'm not sure. Ugh. I hate having to be solely responsible for decisions about stuff like this.

I changed the batteries in the Shure lapel mic yesterday. They went out the previous Sunday when the Young's were here. Fortunately John was smooth enough to just grab a hand-held and it was no big deal. I guess I should have been keeping track though, because the last time they were changed was Feb. 19, and that's quite awhile for this mic to go without a battery change.

I changed batteries in the Shure lapel mic today. It went dead last week in the middle of my sermon (I just switched to a hand-held mic). I don't know if I forgot to record when the batteries were last changed, or if it actually was in August. If so, this batch lasted longer than usual. Seems like we can usually only get three months out of them. At any rate, hopefully I will not go dead today.

I changed batteries in the Shure lapel mic today. Last week it started cutting out. The last two times they've actually lasted over four months though - which is good. The last time they were changed was April 18.

The batteries in the Shure lapel mic died at the end of the service yesterday morning. So I changed them today. I guess the last time I had changed them was in December, so they lasted over 4 months this time. That's about the extent of anything productive I did today. Ugh.

I changed the batteries in the Shure lapel mic today. They died at the end of the Sunday worship gathering last week and I forgot about it. Somehow they made it through today, right until the end of the service, when they died again. So I looked up the last time they were changed and, sure enough, it was in August, so they were do for a change again. Now we should be good to go as I talk about Isaiah 7:14 this coming Sunday. I need to try to remember to just change batteries every 3 months. Although, sometimes I'm tempted to just use the hand-help mic. But I talk with my hands so much that I'm afraid it would limit my vocabulary. Whatever...

New mic batteries

The batteries died on the Shure lapel mic yesterday morning - right at the start of church. I had some other batteries right there (on the keyboard), but when I put them in, for some reason it still registered as dead. This morning I came in and turned it on and it worked fine. I don't know, maybe it just takes awhile for it to adjust or something. Or else there was some demon work going on yesterday morning. There was definitely something going on. I guess I hadn't changed batteries since April. Still seems like they ought to last longer than that, but I guess not.

After I couldn't get the Shure mic to work, I tried the other old lapel mic we have. It didn't work either. First the battery was dead, but after putting a new one in it kept shorting out. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the wire. So I just used a hand-held wired mic. It probably sounds better anyway, but I lose some mobility and the ability to fully talk with my hands. I really hate having to go through all this while standing in front of a crowd looking at me. Anyway, interestingly enough, the old lapel mic worked when I tried it today too. Hmm.

It was a weird morning all around though. Started with someone showing up at 9 am (church is at 10). They said to just never mind them, but then they kept wanting to talk to me. I think they showed up early only BECAUSE they wanted to talk to me, but for some reason just wouldn't say so. Uh, but, you know, right before the Sunday worship service isn't necessarily the best time to talk to the pastor. Especially when we were to start running through songs at 9:15. Then it was kinda just one thing after the other. Jane and I were both kind of just 'out of sync' all morning.

I did manage to get rid of the 15 Tincaps tickets I bought though. We had 21 sign up, and I was able to find the other 6 tickets in the afternoon (though not all together). That's probably all I should say about yesterday...

I put new batteries in the Shure lapel mic today. Last Sunday it cut out a few times so I just used a hand-held mic for my sermon. I don't like doing that, because I talk with my hands a lot. The last time the batteries were changed was December 14, 2009. I guess about every 3-4 months must be it. At least AA batteries are cheaper than some of the other ones.

I put new batteries in the Shure lapel mic today. They went dead yesterday right at the end of the service after the Steve Harvey video where he introduces Jesus. They were last changed August 30. I was actually going to change them before the last wedding and forgot. I guess they just made it. I didn't really even notice it cutting out at all, but the red light came on, so I assume that means the batteries are dead.

I put new batteries in the Shure lapel mic this morning. According to my records (blog category) they were last changed on March 22, 2009, but it seems like I did it once since then. At any rate, it cut out a few times last week, and that always seems to be the signal.

I put new batteries in the Sure lapel mic yesterday - 8/10/08. The old ones were still ok, but the last time they were changed was 5/26/08.

Also: moved the keyboard on 8/3/08 from on the main floor up to the raised part between main altar area and drum area (where electric guitar and bass used to be). And changed my mic stand so it comes directly out from under the music stand (instead of from the side). I used a black one instead of a chrome one (black one has shorter base). And put small round table beside me (from the wedding). I like this set-up as long as we're the only ones playing. Monitor sound is really good; and I can finally see all the music without having to move around. Not sure what to do if we get more musicians. I like how there is more room up front - especially if we start doing communion stations on each side.

Changed batteries today in the Sure lapel mic: 5/26/08. Yesterday they died right after my sermon. The last time they were changed was 3/9/08. So, a little over two months.

On an unrelated note: I also switched back to my acoustic guitar - and played it through the amp again. I like the sound better through the amp - lots of chorus; and I seem to have more confidence in playing the acoustic - even though my hand did get sore yesterday. Lots of bar chords are a problem, but my hand was already sore from putting up the storage building Saturday.

Also... I changed the monitors around up front. I took the one from behind the tree and made it my own personal monitor, and have it on a separate channel (PRE-2). I tied Jane's and Robin's together on their own (PRE-1). It seemed to work out nice. It's the best it's sounded from my spot in a long time.
